ASU News to California Students
Good news for California students who complete an IGETC or CSU GE
We have some great news for California transfer students!
California students who complete the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or California State University General Education pattern (CSU GE) with a minimum GPA of 2.00 certified on his or her transcript will fulfill the lower-division ASU General Studies requirement. (Note that students are required to complete the upper-division General Studies requirement after they transfer to ASU.) Students who complete the IGETC will no longer be required to complete an additional lab science course, and students who complete the CSU GE will no longer be required to complete an additional lab science and English composition course. This change is effective for new transfer students at ASU admitted as of spring 2013 and beyond.

As a prospective transfer student, it is important to make sure that the community college courses you take are acceptable to the university for transfer credit. ASSIST is California's official statewide repository of transfer information for the California State University and University of California systems. ASSIST offers easy access to a single articulation database; it will help you determine if you will receive credit for courses you have already taken or plan to take and how those courses apply to a specific academic major or general education.
