The Professional Development Initiative

If the participant is currently active in the Professional Growth Initiative as outlined in the CSEA handbook (section 16.2, page 28), then the 18 hours of the SSCC will count toward one credit hour of the Initiative.  It is important to remember that if a participant is using the 18 hours of the SSCC toward the Professional Development Initiative, then the participant MUST take vacation to attend the workshops.  This follows the CSEA handbook requirements for the Initiative.  Also, if the participant is involved in the Initiative, then the participant cannot repeat workshops for credit; he or she may only take the workshop one time.  Participants must ensure that the Professional Growth Initiative Activity Plan is completed PRIOR to beginning the SSCC.
