Loan Periods for Materials

Books in the General Collection	2 weeks
Magazine or Journal issues (volumes do not check out)	1 week
Reserve Materials	1 hour use within the Library, some overnight
Videos	use within the Library for length of the video
Reference Books	available for use within the Library

Borrowing privileges and responsibilities

Current Chaffey College students, staff and faculty are eligible to check out materials at the library. Your Chaffey College ID card also is your library card and you will need to present your student ID to check out materials. Faculty and staff must present a photo ID in order to check out materials.

Information about Chaffey Photo ID Services

If you do not have your ID or if there is a block on your account, Circulation can hold most materials for a short period in your name. The limit on the number of materials that you can have checked out is thirty items. You are responsible for any materials checked out on your account and for returning them on time. If you lose your ID card or if your contact information changes, you are responsible for notifying Circulation and changing your contact information on your MyChaffeyVIEW account.

Renewals

In some cases, you can renew books checked out to you online from the Library Catalog or you can bring the books to the Circulation Desk to renew them. Books cannot be renewed over the phone. Overdue materials cannot be renewed; renewals must be before the due date. There is no limit on renewals, but all materials must be returned by the end of the semester. Books with holds placed on them cannot be renewed.

Holds

Holds may be placed on certain materials that are checked out.

Fines and Fees

Overdue Books & Periodicals	25 cents per day
Overdue Reserve Materials	$10.00 per hour
Overdue Overnight Reserve Materials	$10.00 per day
Charge for lost materials	25.00 per item + cost of replacement (15.00 is non-refundable if material is returned)
Fines based on computer due date only. The Library is not responsible for lost or missing date information.

Reserve Materials

Materials on reserve for a class are kept behind the desk at Circulation. You will need to have the call number of the material for the staff to find it (it will usually begin with the letters RES). If you do not know the call number for your item, you can look it up in the Library Catalog.

If you do not know the title of the item that you need, the Chaffey Bookstore has a search engine on its site (click on Textbooks on the top of the Bookstore homepage to access), where you can search for the titles of the required and optional textbooks for a course.

Electronic Reserves (eRes)

Materials on Electronic Reserve(eRes) are available via AGent on the Chaffey Library Website.
