Application Submittal Chaffey College welcomes you to mail or fax applications for employment. Please remember that all application materials must be received by the closing deadline of the position regardless of whether the materials are mailed, faxed, or submitted in person. SELECTION PROCESS: A selection committee will conduct all minimum qualification appraisals as set forth on the job announcement and reserves the right to limit the number of interviews granted. Meeting the minimum qualifications for a position does not assure the applicant of an interview. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified of the time and place of the interview. Interviews are usually held on the Chaffey Community College campus and are conducted by a selection committee. Tenure track positions usually require a teaching demonstration and/or a written assignment. A second-level interview may be required. Travel costs related to an interview will be borne by the applicant. Applicants will be notified by letter of the results of the selection process. In the interview, consideration will be given to various factors including, but not limited to, education and work experience, self- development, job knowledge and/or competitive ability to apply it effectively, interpersonal skills, adaptability, initiative, sensitivity, and commitment to meet student needs. APPOINTMENT: All employment offers are conditional based upon the successful completion of (1) a medical examination, which is required for all academic employees who have not previously been employed in an academic position, (2) any tests that the District determines necessary to evaluate abilities, (3) a freedom from active tuberculosis report prior to the starting date, (4) an I-9 form and supporting documents establishing proof of the individual's identity and legal right to work in the United States, as mandated by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, prior to the starting date (an example would be a driver's license and social security card), (5) fingerprinting, and (6) approval by the Governing Board for employment based on the recommendation of the Superintendent/President. Continuation of any position is contingent upon funding. Any cost associated with employment will be the responsibility of the employee. CLASSIFIED PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Classified employees serve a probationary period ranging from six (6) months to one (1) year. During the probationary period, an employee may be terminated without cause and recourse. CLASSIFIED UNION MEMBERSHIP/AGENCY FEE: Classified employees are required either to join the Chapter (CSEA) as a member or to pay to the Chapter a service fee within 30 calendar days of employment. ACADEMIC ASSIGNMENTS: Courses may be assigned during the day and/or evening and/or weekends during the academic year and may be assigned at on-campus or off-campus sites. Other conditions of employment may be found in the current contract between the Chaffey Community College District and the Chaffey College FRINGE BENEFITS: The District provides a comprehensive program of fringe benefits for all contract employees working 50% or more of full time. ADJUNCT ASSIGNMENTS: Applications for the part-time faculty pool are accepted at any time. These are temporary, part-time positions and may be located on-campus or off-campus. Day, evening, and/or Saturday classes are available. Applicants recommended for placement by the interviewing committee will remain in the qualified applicant pool until the end of the academic year (status may be renewed annually).
