The nurse assistant is an important member of the health care team who provides direct care to patients in sub-acute, acute, and home health settings. All Certified Nurse Assistant's function under the supervision of the Licensed Nurse. Programs are approved by the Department of Public Health of the State of California. Upon completion of the nurse assistant course, the student is eligible to take the examination for Nurse Assistant Certification (CNA) offered by the American Red Cross for a fee. The CNA may then complete courses for certification in Home Health Aide.

Enrollment in the CNA/HHA program is subject to completion of the following requirements:
1.
Admission to Chaffey College
2.
Attend a mandatory information session
3.
Evidence of satisfactory physical and emotional health as determined by health examination
4.
Current immunization status
5.
Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate at the Health Care Provider (American Heart Association) level
6. Must be 18 years of age


MANDATORY
CNA INFORMATION SESSIONS
2009-2010
You Must Attend ONE of the Following Mandatory CNA Information Meetings:
Friday September 11 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. HS-143
Friday October 9 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. HS-143
Friday November 13 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. HS-143
Friday December 11 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. HS-143

Meetings will be held in the Health Sciences building on the Rancho Cucamonga campus.

Seating is limited. Anyone arriving late will be encouraged to attend a later meeting.
At the information meeting, prerequisites and eligibility criteria that are relevant to the application process will be discussed. These meetings are open to the public. You do not have to be enrolled at Chaffey College to attend.

In consideration of others, please be prompt. We suggest that you arrive a half hour prior to the meeting so that you can purchase a temporary parking permit from the dispensers (if needed).

Please make child care arrangements for your children ahead of time. Children are not allowed in classrooms at Chaffey College.
