The Chaffey College Dental Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation can be contacted at (312) 440-2500 or at 211 Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611-2678. The program is designed to prepare students for the Dental Assisting National Board Examination for national certification.

The program is also approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Dental Examiners. gistered Dental Assistant Examination for state license. This one year program begins each fall semester. Students may enroll in the part-time program, which generally takes two years.

Program Highlights

 
red box Upon completion of the Registered Dental Assisting Program students will acquire a Dental Assisting Certificate of Completion, the California Radiation Safety Certificate and the Coronal Polishing Certificate (must pass RDA Examination to activate).

red box Students may earn the Ultrasonic Scalar Certificate for Orthodontic cement removal upon course completion and passing of the RDA Examination.

red box Students are able to work with the latest dental techniques through supervised practice sessions at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Students work with student dentists and experience using techniques and skills required to be a successful dental team member.

red box Externships at local dental offices provide practical, hands-on experience.

red box Community interaction such as delivering presentations to help educate school children in oral hygiene and nutrition and meeting with local dentists for career advisement.

red box Students are eligible to join the American Dental Assistants Association, California Dental Assistant Association, and Pomona Valley Dental Assistant Society.
