General Information



What is EOPS?

EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs & Services) is a state-funded program that offers support services to economically disadvantaged students who have experienced limited success in high school and/or college.  We endeavor to ensure student retention and success through academic support and financial assistance with the ultimate goal being completion of a certificate program, an associate degree and/or transfer to a four-year university.


What Services Does EOPS Offer?

red check Limited Books Service to assist in purchasing textbooks for classes
red check Counseling - our counseling team offers academic and limited personal counseling
red check Cultural awareness activities
red check Orientation to college classes
red check Priority Registration
red check Transportation Assistance (parking Decal or Bus Pass)
 
Please Note: Not all services are available every semester.

Eligibility Requirements


You may be eligible for the EOPS program if you:

red check Qualify for a BOGG (fee waiver) type A or B as determined by the Financial Aid Office

and meet one of the following criteria:

red check Have not earned a high school diploma nor the equivalent or graduated from high school with less than 2.5 (C+) grade point average
red check Have Chaffey College assessment results which indicate that you do not qualify to enroll into degree applicable English or Mathematics courses
red check Have completed 500 series English or Math at Chaffey College or the equivalent at another college
red check Have completed remedial course work or English As a Second Language classes in high school and/or college


How Long Can Students Participate In The EOPS Program?


As long as you maintain good standing with EOPS and there is not a break in participation, your benefits will continue until completion of:

red check 70 semester units or the equivalent, including courses from all colleges attended (remedial courses are not counted)
OR
red check 6 semesters in the EOPS program, excluding summer sessions (this includes service by EOPS programs at other colleges)

What Are The Responsibilities?


red check
Must be a full-time student. (Enrolled in and maintaining 12 units each semester)
red check
Select classes from the educational plan developed with an EOPS counselor
red check
Enroll in and complete Guidance 503 or 2, Orientation to College, as advised by an EOPS counselor
red check
Participate in a start-term, mid-term, and end-term interview each semester
red check
Meet with an EOPS counselor, before dropping a class or making schedule changes
red check
Maintain satisfactory academic progress


How to Apply for Both EOPS and CARE Programs


There is only one Application for EOPS and CARE.  Contact the EOPS office at 909/652-6349 for additional information regarding the programs and application periods.
