Middle School CTE/STEM Presentations

Middle School CTE/STEM Presentations A 50-minute guidance lesson describing career options after high school and how to be ready for them. The presentation focuses on high wage, high skill, high demand jobs that fall under Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The presentation includes group activities selected to explore job descriptions, education required, important subjects needed to prepare for the job, and salary information. CTE presenters will provide students with college, career and financial aid resources.

Counselor Conclave

Secondary counselors and career technicians are invited to the Second Annual Counselor Conclave, “Guiding Students Toward Careers for Tomorrow.” Renowned speaker John Antonetti will discuss the importance of relevance in education and the connection to career technical education. Counselors will receive a toolkit with resources to assist them in engaging students in meaningful career exploration.

NASCAR Activity Day

Middle school students and teachers will enjoy a day of math-related activities at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Students will see how math is used in NASCAR racing. After lunch, students will get to meet businesses that work with NASCAR and the Auto Club Speedway.

Celebrating Women in Mathematics and Science

The West End Celebrating Women in Mathematics & Science conference brings together women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to encourage female students to pursue a career in these areas. The day-long conference will focus on specific career-related information. It will feature workshops, a keynote speaker, continental breakfast, and lunch. The conference is FREE!!! Space is limited. Registration deadline is November 5, 2010. Pre registration is required
