Teachers and counselors from middle and high schools visit a business and use their observations to design a lesson plan or activity. Externships are intended to increase relevance in the classroom. Externs are encouraged to use Project or Problem-Based Learning in developing their lesson or activity.

Educator Day at the Auto Club Speedway

For externs and teachers / instructors interested in developing NASCAR curriculum. A behind-the-scenes look at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Teachers will hear from department heads and tour the Speedway to get a “crash course” in careers related to professional auto racing. Speakers will address topics such as marketing, graphic arts, human resources, accounting, fire & safety, catering, and automotive technology. Lunch will be provided followed by pace car rides for those who dare!
