ASSESSMENT TESTING

The Assessment Test is a computerized placement tool (called Accuplacer) used to determine each student's proficiency level in mathematics, English composition, and reading comprehension.

WHEN TO TAKE THE TEST

It is recommended that all new students take the test as soon as possible. Waiting to take the test may delay your eligibility to register for certain courses.

TYPES OF ASSESSMENT TESTS

Tradtional--The traditional assessment test is a three-part test in math, English, and reading.

ESL (English as a Second Language)--The ESL test is for students whose native language is not English and who plan to take ESL courses. All students who plan to take ESL courses must first complete the ESL assessment test.

ATB (Ability to Benefit)--the ATB test is for certain students who have applied for financial aid, but have been told that they must first complete the ATB assessment test. NOTE: Most financial aid recipients do not have to take this test.
