We use Chaffey College’s instructor feedback on individual classroom performance, which includes grades and instructor/student interactions in a classroom environment.

4.   What other characteristics are desirable?
Other desirable characteristics are friendliness, professionalism, & dependability.  Students who do not use profanity; but display character and integrity, never displaying any negative (criminal or sexual) behavior in the classroom and the work place, are also sought-after.

5.   How many semesters can I be an intern?
The internships are for four semesters, depending on a favorable sponsor’s evaluation.

6.   How do I apply to be an intern?
Complete an application at the main campus, Business Education Building, Room BE-8.  Leave the application with one of the office assistants.  Attach certifications and other school transcripts.  Your Chaffey College transcripts will be printed and attached to your application.  These documents will be submitted to Professor Wall..

7.   What are other requirements?

  • If you are accepted as an intern, you must be fingerprinted in the Human Resources department in the Administrative Services building on the Main Campus.  The cost is $32.  Keep all paperwork, so that you can be reimbursed in BE8.
  • Students must be able to work flexible days (no nights) and be available between 5 – 20 hours per week.
  • You must also have an e-mail account.  When you send emails, make sure you sign your name at the bottom of the email message.

8.   What are the steps?

a.   Send an email to wallinterns@yahoo.com expressing interest.  When the semester starts, you will be sent an application and the FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions).

f.    If you are accepted as an intern, you will be instructed to pick up a new intern packet in BE8.  The packet will contain an ADD card, a Learning Agreement, and a syllabus.  The CIS496B would need to be added immediately.  The Learning Agreement will be completed and discussed with the sponsor and returned to Prof Wall within the first 2 weeks of interning.
g.   If you do not pass the interviewing process, you will be notified.
h.   During the internship, you will report to the sponsor.  If there are problems, concerns or abrupt termination, you must contact Prof Wall.
i.    Two weeks before the end of the semester, you must submit a Summary.  The Summary is a one or two paged report containing 2 paragraphs.  In the first paragraph, you will explain the tasks and duties you performed.  The second paragraph is your thoughts of the internship experience.
j.    The sponsor will evaluate your performance.  If you completed the program successfully, you will be able to intern up to four semesters.  You should then add the Internship to your resume.  If the sponsor’s evaluation is not favorable, then you will not be able to intern again.
