Consumer Studies Petition

About the Program - Degrees and Certificates - The Petition - The Faculty

The Petition

In tough economic times it is more important than ever to have sharp money and life management skills, a broad knowledge of business law, and a better understanding of housing, lending and banking practices to survive and protect ones self from future problems.

The Consumer Studies Program fills in this critical need. However, due to the budget crisis of California we are unable to offer some of the classes to fulfill the credentialing program without first knowing students will fill up the classes we offer.

Please sign this petition to show your Support of the Consumer Studies Program. Your information will not be given out to anyone.

Professor Newakhtar is an excellent instructor and should continue her employment with Chaffey simply for the benefit of her students.  :)

Consumer Studies is an important area to have because it teaches students the habits and skills that should have been taught by parents but weren't because they LACKED those skills too.  With these skills a more successful life will be possible and maybe this economy wouldn't be so bad!

I'm currently in Housing and Life Management. I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge I can use in my daily life. If these classes are cut, then future Chaffey students will be deprived. Mrs. Nowakhtar is the reason I took both classes.

It would be a shame if classes under Consumer Studies Program, such as "Life Management", be closed. From my personal experience this class helped me single out problems and fix them such as: time management, financial responsibilities (budgets), and basic healthy living. I can honestly say that this class has helped me become a better student, a better person, and a better citizens.
I petition that the Consumer Studies Program live on.

Nowakhtar is an excellent teacher and it would be a detriment to the school to lose her. Her classes are needed here and she is an asset to the college.
